The Fall Of A Rebel Angel
Over 25 years since the release of the ground-breaking debut Enigma album, “MCMXC a.D.”, Michael Cretu – the founder of this genre-defying act, and its composer and producer – has released its eighth instalment, “The Fall Of A Rebel Angel”.
Enigma has proved one of the most successful of the last quarter-century, delivering more than 70 million sales across seven albums, 60 Number One albums around the world, and in excess of 100 Platinum awards. In 2016, Cretu re-connects with the bold, pioneering musical sound-world of that very first multi-platinum album – a unique and timeless world that touched millions across the globe, and helped define the musical landscape of an entire generation.
“I have tried to transfer the spirit of Enigma’s beginnings to the here and now, but in a new musical language”, Cretu said. “The album tells the story of a symbolic journey to redemption – with everyone to define his individual path.”
The protagonist sets off for development and evolution. Gradual change, with sometimes psychedelic undertones, leads him to new horizons. Grammy and Echo-award-winning writer, Michael Kunze, has created the story in words to accompany the music.
In addition, Wolfang Beltracchi, one of the greatest and most controversial painters of our times, has crafted the album’s artwork in addition to 12 original paintings, each to accompany the 12 album “chapters”.
Besides British alternative musical duo Aquilo and Brazilian singer songwriter Mark Josher, the world's best-selling Asian female artist outside Asia, World Music Award winner and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Anggun is featured on the album.
