About Return to Innocence
The second time Enigma reached across the world, and the furthest it traveled to find a voice. At the song’s center is a recording of a voice from Taiwan, built into a slow, looping Western frame that made an ancient chant sound like the most natural thing in pop. The title points back toward a beginning, a return rather than an arrival, and the idea of life moving in a circle runs quietly under all of it.
”According to my studies of numerology, "Return To Innocence" is influenced by Hinduism, and this infinite circle of life. That's why I had the idea of a reversed video. Julien Temple, the video director, immediately hug me and said: Yea, baby, we got it!
