Sadeness (Part I)

The first signal Enigma ever sent, and still its defining one. Gregorian chant set against a low, whispered French voice, the two pulled into the same slow pulse and made to answer each other. The provocation sits in the title itself, a play on the Marquis de Sade and on sadness, asking where the line between devotion and desire actually falls. It arrived with no face attached to it, which only deepened the question of who, or what, Enigma was.
